Anchor Babies - Right or Wrong?

The issue of Anchor Babies has raised its ugly head with the protesting by the 8 year old Anchor Spawn of deported wacko Elvira Arellano.
An 8-year-old boy whose mother was deported to Mexico led a chanting crowd of about 150 pro-immigration activists through the halls of Congress on Wednesday. Capitol Police arrested two demonstrators for disorderly conduct.

Saul Arellano and other children carried a banner that read: "Born in the USA. Don't take our moms and dads away."

Which brings up the issue: Should the anchor child of ILLEGAL Aliens be automatically granted American citizenship?

The 14th Amendment grants these anchor babies their citizenship:
All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

This amendment was written after the Civil War to guarantee the citizenship of freed slaves, which was the correct action to take. But now it is being used by ILLEGALS to not only ensure that their children born here are citizens, but to ensure that they are not deported either. And that is where the law is being misused.

Nowhere in the 14th Amendment does it mention that the parents, not born here, not in this country legally, are granted citizenship or even allowed permanent residency. Thus I say if parents are deemed being in this country ILLEGALLY, deport them, the child can live with relatives (residing here legally), foster care or leave with their parents. These children should not be allowed to be used as pawns by their parents to cheat the system and bypass our immigration laws.

The children can stay, but the parents have got to go, that is the way it should be. I don't like the idea of children of ILLEGALS being granted automatic citizenship, but that is in the Constitution, and until it is changed, we will have to live with it.
