Texas Republicans get wacked by the ADL

It seems that Texas Republicans have pissed off the Jews of Texas:
DALLAS (Reuters) - A leading Jewish group on Tuesday asked the Republican Party in President Bush (news - web sites)'s home state of Texas to stop calling the United States a "Christian nation" in its platform.

Excuuuuuse Me!! What did you say?
The Anti-Defamation League, which fights anti-Semitism and religious discrimination, said it was dismayed about the platform plank and other language in the document that describes as "a myth" the separation of church and state, which is enshrined by the U.S. Constitution and court rulings.

"America was founded on the belief that freedom of religion requires that the government take no official stance on, or participate in, religious activity or religion," the group said in a letter to Tina Benkiser, the chairwoman of the Texas Republican Party.

I consider myself to be a friend of the Jew, G-d's Choosen People, and a supporter of Israel, but now the ADL is slamming Republicans in my home state of Texas, WTF!!! Just because the State Republican platform declares that the "myth" of the seperation of Church and State is a "MYTH"?

In addition to long-established Jewish communities, Texas is home to a sizable population of Muslims, members of what experts say is one of the fastest growing religions in America.

Ok, and your point is?

So there are Jews and Muslims in Texas, so What? There are also large communities of Germans, Mexicans, Blacks, Czechs, Italians and Anglos.
Benkiser said in a statement Texans believe the party represents their beliefs and values.

"Our platform is an acknowledgment that most of our nation's founding fathers had a deep faith in God," she said.

"The Republican Party of Texas affirms that the United States of America is a Christian nation, and the public acknowledgment of God is undeniable in our history," reads the plank in the party's 2004 platform, which was recently adopted.

So this is what the ADL is squealing about, that the Texas Republicans are stating the facts and adding it to their platform.
he First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution says Congress "shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting free exercise thereof."
The Anti-Defamation League said the Texas Republicans should modify the language in their platform "to reinforce principles that unite our diverse nation." The group said that the party kept similar language in its platform in 2002.

Apparently the ADL can't read too well - "U.S. Constitution says Congress "shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting free exercise thereof."". The Texas Republicans didn't advocate a State sponsored religion, they stated the fact that this nation was founded on the deep faith in G-d. In which it Was!!!. Denying the fact will not make it go away, our Founding Fathers were Christian, deeply religious, and the laws they instituded were based on Judeo-Christian values and morals. Can't be denied and shouldn't be denied. No one said that you have to convert to Christianity, or that the Texas State Religion was Baptist, they were just reaffirming the truth that Moon-Bats and the LLL are trying to wash under the carpet.

In my opinion, that is the way it was, and is. Live with it and Get over it!!
