My Opinion on the Democrat's Loss and What They Need to Do
There has been a lot of analysis, whining and punditry over the last 3 days on why the Dems lost, what they did wrong and how they can change it in the future. As a "Joe Six Pack", "Monty Gun Nut", "Clyde the Christian", and "Middle Aged, Middle Income, White Guy" I would like to give MY opinion to the Dems.
First, cut lose the Far Left element of the Party. The Howard Deans, Michael Moores, George Soros and Alex Baldwins, they are only alienating the middle-of-the-road Democrats. The Democratic Party used to be known as the Party of the People, now it is known as the Socialist Party.
Second, "Values", learn what this really means. I heard Alan Colmes on Fox News last night, and he thinks being concerned about Jobs, the Economy and the War in Iraq are "values", how wrong can you get. These are not "Values", these are issues, "Values" are the stances on Partial Birth Abortion, Gay Marriages, Anti-Christian laws, Personal Character and the Right Bear Arms. These are the "Values" that 60 million voters think are important. This was made clear not just nationally, but on a local level also. The inroads the Republican Party made in the House, Senate, Governors and on the State level showed this. Until the Democratic Party can truly understand "values" then they are doomed to repeat losing.
Third, Don't run Hillary Clinton in 2008. She will not win. She represents what the Democratic Party needs to get away from. You need to pick a candidate that is more Middle of the Road and not as confrontational. She is either loved or reviled, and she is a phony that the general public can see through. If you run her, then you have learned nothing.
Forth and finally, quit the Hating, Sleaze, Thuggery and Cheating. The public saw it and was turned off by it. This will show up as a "Values" issue. Bring back the men/women of integrity and honor. The Democratic Party used to be an Honorable Party, but not anymore. Bill Clinton brought in the Sleazey element and the Dems thought that they could continue with it. Michael Moore and George Soros brought in the Hatred and the Dems thought it was a motivator. Ditch this party MO, and bring back the people of Integrity. The Hatred, Sleaze, Thuggery and Cheating, utterly disgusts people, and until it is expunged, you will continue to lose, now matter how much you cheat. In fact for me this is an important issue. I have not always voted just for Republicans, I voted for a Democrat House Rep for years, because he was an Honorable Man and really care about his constituents. Not anymore (he retired years ago), the national Democratic Party is full of Terry McAuliffes, James Carvilles and George Soros, and until the Democrats kick them out or ignore them, then I will never vote for another Democrat again.
I am not writing this to be mean and kick a horse (or Donkey) when it is down, I am saying this in honesty to help. The Two Party System is healthy, but when one Party is real sick, then the system is sick. Please change, so we can have honest agreements to disagree, honest oppositional discourse, because right now it is an Us vs Them society, and this is not what America needs, we need the America that was prevalent days after 9/11, together and united.
